About this system
R40 combines a 1:4 geared sidewinder with a choice of 53 or 70 mm barrel. It is worth considering when the window or fabric calls for more capacity than a smaller roller system. The gear mechanism is operated by a metal chain, with a teardrop aluminium bottom bar in the standard finish.
Choosing the larger barrel is a technical decision based on width, drop and fabric weight. It also changes the space needed around the rolled fabric and brackets. We check those details together so the finished blind clears the window and remains practical to operate.
Make space for the assembly
A heavier-duty blind can project further than a compact roller. Recess depth, handles and the space above the glazing should be checked before a specific barrel is selected. A fascia is another option where a covered roller is preferred.
Plan for repeated use
On a frequently adjusted blind, consider control-side access and the route of the chain. For very high windows or several large blinds in one room, powered operation may be more convenient.
