About this system
For a straightforward blind that will be adjusted throughout the day, the R20 is a useful starting point. Its metal chain operates a Slipstream sidewinder mechanism, while the fabric is retained in the barrel and bottom bar. The exposed roller keeps the installation compact and makes the fabric the main visual feature.
The right specification depends on the window and the job the fabric needs to do. A screen fabric can reduce glare while retaining some outlook; a dimout fabric provides more privacy; blackout fabric blocks light through the cloth. Those choices have different weights and can change the maximum blind size.
Plan the control side
Tell us where the chain will be easiest to reach and whether furniture, window handles or an opening sash could obstruct it. The chain safety device also needs a suitable fixing position. For a room where staff should control access, compare the detachable crank on the R20C.
Match the finish to the room
Choose a visible bottom bar, a fabric-covered finish or a fascia where available. On opening doors or in draughty locations, ask whether side guides would help keep the bottom bar steady.
